Some Small New Jersey Marinas Still Anticipating Sandy Aid

Nearly a year after Superstorm Sandy hit New Jersey, some small marina owners are still anticipating money to help rebuild their shattered businesses.

Kristi Munro Hanselmann’s marina in Little Egg Harbor Township suffered $1.4 million in damage last October. She was upset recently when the state announced that three larger marinas that cater to a far better-end clientele were getting funds from a federal grant program.

She tells The click of Atlantic City that Gov. Chris Christie’s office told her those grants were break free the Sandy relief package approved by Congress for brand new Jersey, but she says the way they were publicized was misleading.

Munro Hanselmann says she and other small marina owners have spent their savings but aren’t practically being fully recovered from the storm.
